Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)
What is it?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical and completely effective solution to the problem of hair loss.
Unlike many other hair loss solutions, SMP does not require any maintenance once the treatment has been completed and it also does not cause scarring which saves the unnecessary costs and work that comes with trying to clear up scars.
There are various types of SMP options available, including:
● Soft hairline and widowed peak
● Adding density to thinning hair
● The “edge-up”
● SMP for women
● SMP for hair loss treatment patients
It is the only 100% guaranteed solution to problems including; the thinning of hair, a receding hairline, alopecia, pattern baldness, and scarring caused by hair restoration.
How does it work?
The treatment process usually involves 2 separate sessions and, occasionally, a third one. The first session is always more mild and only light work is done, whereas the sessions after that involve more detail on the scalp and a darkening in the shade of the pigment injected. The third session is optional and depends solely on whether the patient wants the hair to appear even darker. The procedure itself requires pigment to be unloaded into the scalp via detailed micro-needles. The ink that is being placed in the affected areas is made to precisely match the patient’s natural hair colour. The result causes there to be an appearance of small hair follicles that aid in making the hair look fuller and thicker.
Are there any side effects?
If done professionally, any side effects are extremely unlikely – given that any possible allergies that the patient has are discussed beforehand.
