Fractional CO2 Laser
What is Fractional CO2 Laser?
Fractional Laser Resurfacing is a new technology which promises to deliver results approaching that of deep chemical peels or ablative laser resurfacing, without the discomfort and inconvenience of a lengthy healing period.
How Does It Works?
Fractional Laser Resurfacing uses laser energy micro beams to break down skin tissue through the epidermis into the dermis. The body’s natural healing process creates new, healthy tissue to replace the areas of affected tissue, resulting in lighter scar colour and a more even skin texture.
No visible wound is created and makeup can be applied immediately.
Additional treatments are usually spaced 1 to 4 weeks apart, for a total of 4-5 treatments. Further collagen remodelling and some skin tightening take place over the next 3-6 months.
Fractional Skin Resurfacing can improve the appearance of:
Enlarged pore size
Skin tone and texture
Age spots and Sun damage
Stretch mark (this technology is the first to receive FDA-approval for treating Stretch mark)
After treatment, the skin looks sunburned and may be slightly swollen. Patients report little or no discomfort post-treatment. During post-care, patients apply ointment to the skin for four to five days and should limit sun exposure and wear protective clothing.
Many patients have a Fractional treatment in combination with other existing cosmetic therapies. These include PRP (platelet rich plasma) which is your own growth factors to augment the results of the Fractional Laser or the LED light Therapy to reduce the post laser healing time dramatically. Discuss combination treatment options with the doctor to choose the best for yourself.
